In any room of your home you can use a bench for storage and your dining room is no different. A storage bench can serve several functions even in a formal dining room. Tucked away in a corner or against a wall you will have a comfortable place to sit as well as ample room for storage. Keep large serving pieces and dining accessories in the bench until they are needed for your larger gatherings. Placed under a window makes for a nice window seat and adds charm to your dining room as well and we know the cozier the room the more eating goes on in there.
The lighter the wood the less space it seems to take up although obviously this is only an illusion. You need to leave at least 4 feet space between each side of the dining table and the walls or other furniture and also a minimum of 24 inches between chairs. That should be enough information to enable you to work out the size of table you can fit in and how many people you can seat. Don't try to get away with less space or your guests will feel squashed and uncomfortable.
Dining rooms are used by families to get together and enjoy a meal. Your family may get together more and have more enjoyable time in your dining room if you have designed in appropriately. Furthermore you have to think about the style and comfort that the place can provide.
