Kids Compete for 11th Year
Arlington, VA May 23, 2008 – Back by popular demand, hundreds of kids age nine and younger will take center stage during a race just for them during the CSC Invitational on June 1, 2008. The race, free of charge, is the largest of its kind in the country.
The children will demonstrate their athleticism as they zip around the 1 km course. The kids’ race starts prior to the Men’s Pro Team event, which kicks off at approximately 12:15pm. The kids will be divided into four heats as follows:
Heat 1 (1 lap, ages 7-9)
Heat 2 (1 lap, ages 6-7)
Heat 3 (1/2 lap, ages 4-6)
Heat 4 (150 yds, 4 and under
The kids’ event is presented in partnership with FITArlington, an organization that works together to promote a culture of fitness in Arlington for people of all ages and abilities.
The CSC Invitational is part of USA Cycling's National Racing Calendar. The day begins with the 40 km Masters category at 8:15am; followed by the Men's 1/2/3 category. At 10:15am, women complete 50km in the 1/2 category. The spectator friendly course is 1km in length, located at the Clarendon Metro stop in Arlington, VA at 3100 Wilson Blvd. The 100 lap Men's Pro race is the final event of the day.
