A chest of drawers that doubles as a buffet is another great option. The storage in the drawers is perfect for table linens and this is a great place to store your silverware dining accessories and serving platters and yet they will be handy for when you need to use them. If you have the space you can add a lovely hutch to your chest of drawers and showcase that heirloom china and still store the other dining accessories. If a hutch is too large and in charge for your space consider adding some floating shelves to your dining room décor. Also a great way to display those just for looks pieces.
The lighter the wood the less space it seems to take up although obviously this is only an illusion. You need to leave at least 4 feet space between each side of the dining table and the walls or other furniture and also a minimum of 24 inches between chairs. That should be enough information to enable you to work out the size of table you can fit in and how many people you can seat. Don't try to get away with less space or your guests will feel squashed and uncomfortable.
One of the biggest issues in dining room furniture arrangements and especially in formal room arrangements is storage for various dining accessories. Those miscellaneous items like bread warmers condiment servers and napkin rings can be a chore to find a home for without making a room look cluttered or junky. When you are planning out your room arrangement plan to include another piece of furniture totally unassociated with eating and there are a couple of different approaches to this.
Individual Furniture Piece Options. Room size family size and personal decorating style can influence what dining room furniture you will use and the choices are as varied as there are households. You probably are looking for one of the top three shapes of tables: Most people prefer oval square or rectangular table tops. Any shape can accommodate additional table spacers that are inserted into the middle of the surface and provide extra room on top and for seating. Not all tables are made to be extended however. Solid surfaces will remain that shape and size.
Dining Room Accessories and Accent Pieces. If your dining room has the space for them other pieces of furniture such as cocktail cabinets curio cabinets sideboards and credenzas add that extra touch of pizzazz to your décor and furnishings. Candelabra a chandelier and other forms of unique lighting can be used and table furniture such as bowls centerpieces and trays of nuts and fruit will add class to any table.
